Orange Shirt Day

 

Orange Shirt Day was created as an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy. It honours the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, celebrates resilience and affirms a commitment that every child matters. On September 28, students may choose to wear an orange shirt in support of our efforts towards Truth & Reconciliation.

There will be no school on September 29 as the Government of Canada declared this day as a federal statutory holiday for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

 

Allergy Aware

 

Sharing of food is not permitted at HAB.  This includes students sharing snacks or food at recess and lunch, or snacks or treats that may have been sent by parents in previous years on occasions such as birthdays.  We have a vast range of allergies in our school (which include things such as wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts such as almonds, legumes, berries and other fruits, items in the mustard family such as broccoli and kale, food dyes, chocolate, honey, etc.)

With this, we ask that families DO NOT bring or send any food to be shared with the class for special occasions (birthdays, holidays, etc.)

We truly appreciate your support and cooperation as we strive to prevent accidental allergic reactions.

 

 

Alberta Curriculum

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Open House last Thursday. Thank you for taking the time to come and see your child’s classroom and to meet their teachers.
