Additional Overflow School Designation for Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Hugh A. Bennett School has reached its capacity and will be unable to accommodate all the students who live within the designated school boundary, and students overflowed from Saddle Ridge School. Pineridge School will now serve as a second overflow school to accommodate the continuous student enrolment growth in the Saddle Ridge community for the 2023-24 school year and beyond.
Effective immediately, new registrations for Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School that cannot be accommodated at these schools, including new registrations in SchoolEngage, will be overflowed to Pineridge School.
- Pineridge School is in the community of Pineridge at 1927 61 St NE Calgary, AB T1Y 4W6, phone 403-777-6750.
All kindergarten to Grade 4 students who live in the Saddle Ridge community and attend one of the overflow schools will be placed on a call-back list and offered a place at their designated school of Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School if space becomes available.
No changes for current students attending Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School.
All students living in Saddle Ridge who attend Saddle Ridge School or Hugh A. Bennett School will continue to attend their school, provided they do not move out of the community. This includes students who have been overflowed from Saddle Ridge School to Hugh A. Bennett School since the original overflow was implemented on June 26, 2023.
Overflow designation for all Saddle Ridge community regular program students for the 2023-24 school year and beyond.
New registrations from kindergarten to Grade 4 regular program students who reside in Saddle Ridge will be redirected to Pineridge School if they cannot be accommodated at Saddle Ridge School or Hugh A. Bennett School. This includes all kindergarten to Grade 4 students who have submitted registration through SchoolEngage and have yet to receive confirmation of acceptance and new registrations that are received from today onward.
How does a call-back list work?
If space becomes available in Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School during the school year, that space will be offered to students on the call-back list currently attending a designated overflow school. Their overflow school will notify them if a space becomes available. Students remain on the call-back list while they attend the designated overflow school. Students will be removed from the call-back list if they move out of the Saddle Ridge community or transfer from their designated overflow school.
Any new registrations for the 2023-24 school year will be added to the call-back list based on priority designation and the date and time of their registration. The lottery process will be followed for kindergarten to Grade 4 for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. For more details on how we determine priority, please visit our website.
We will make every effort to keep siblings together at a single school. If this is a concern for your family, please contact your designated overflow school to discuss arrangements.
How do I register for the 2023-24 school year?
Any new registrations from students in the Saddle Ridge community must still register for Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett School through SchoolEngage. Once these registrations have been received, student information is transferred to their newly designated overflow school, Pineridge School, if they cannot be accommodated at Saddle Ridge or Hugh A Bennett. The student will be added to the call-back list based on priority. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.
How will students get to school?
Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school or overflow school if they live beyond the walk zone. Overflowed students will receive transportation to school. Families requiring transportation must register for this service. Visit Busing & Transportation for more information, or to register for transportation, visit MyCBE. Alternatively, families may use a paper form that is available on our website.
In the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and across the city, we are experiencing a school bus driver shortage that may impact the mode of service provided. Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to restore reliability to transportation services.
What if I have questions?
If you still have questions or require additional information, please contact the Area 4 office at Area4@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-6233 (extension 0).
