Attendance Line: 403-817-3560 ext. 1

Absence Reporting

It is important that you call the school if your child is absent or arriving  late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line. See more on our Attendance page.

Illness

Sick children at school increase the likelihood colds, flu and other communicable diseases will spread throughout the school population. If your child is sick please keep him/her at home until well enough to resume full school activities including outdoor recess and physical education classes. If you child becomes ill at school, it is very important the school have the current home, work, or emergency contact phone numbers so a caring adult can pick him/her up.

Severe Allergy & Medications

If you child suffers from a severe allergy you must complete a Student Health Plan form  and the Student Health Emergency Response Form (also available at the school office). Please notify the teacher immediately.

Injuries

Should your child be injured at school the following procedures will be followed:

  • A school administrator or teacher will take action to ensure the safety of the student and administer minor first aid.
  • The parent or guardian will be telephoned and advised of the situation and asked, if necessary, to come to the school to pick up their child for further medical assessment.
  • If we are unable to contact the parent or guardian the administrator will determine if emergency treatment is necessary.
  • If emergency treatment appears to be necessary the child will be transported to hospital, and the parents or guardians will be advised as soon as possible.

Lice

There may be times during the school year when we have cases of head lice.

If your child has head lice, please contact the school and let us know. If your child has been exposed to lice at school we will notify you.

As a precaution, we ask all parents to check their child’s head frequently for a few weeks after any exposure. You can find more information on lice from myhealth.alberta.ca.
